Media Project 1 Class Week 6

Today's class started off with a brief discussion of what animal my first monster in my script should be based on. Nobody made any suggestions but Bettina, our teacher, suggested a type of insect. After we finished with that, we commenced our regular lesson, this time on punctuation. We were given a sheet with two letters from a woman named Gloria to a man named John. Both letters had the same words in the same arrangement, but they had different arrangements of punctuation to give them opposite meanings.

This was to show the importance of punctuation to set a context in written works. We were then taught about the different punctuation and how they are used in several contexts. I suggested the use of an ellipsis (...), which was not present in the sheet we were give. We then talked about its additional usage to be used in the middle of a sentence and not end one with it, but use a dash (-) instead if a character was interrupted. Were were allowed to work on our respective projects and I was also given some additional suggestions for my first monster by my teacher after I asked about the first animal on Noah's Ark.

She answered with birds, but it wasn't specified what kind, other than that they flied. She then showed an online slideshow of monster-like animals to look for something fearsome. We both then narrowed down to a scorpionfly or an assassin bug, but I am leaning towards the scorpionfly. Afterwards, we were told to be in pairs and give critique on our works. I was paired with Weronika and I found several grammatical and punctuation errors, as well as suggestions to usages of other words in stead of others.

  1. Good that you are blogging your classes but you really need research about script writing and how to do this, you need research on your target audience and you need to look at the language, structure and form of your script and discuss this.
